4. Methodology, learning tasks, syllabus and resources

4.1. Methodological overview

The methodology followed in this course is oriented towards the achievement of the learning objectives. A wide range of teaching and learning tasks are implemented, such as lectures, practice sessions, autonomous work and study, pairwork and assessment tasks. Students are expected to participate actively in class throughout the semester.

4.2. Learning tasks

This course is organized as follows:

  • Lectures (3.5 ECTS: 85 hours) (learning outcome result 1,3). Explanation and orientation to the personal study of the different contents of the course, aiming at the acquisition of competences and learning results.
  • Practice sessions (1 ECTS: 25 hours) (learning outcome result 2). Training on hypothetical scenarios and resolution of problems, both individually and in teams, using the theoretical bases of the course.
  • Pairwork (0.5 ECTS: 13 hours) (learning outcome result 3). This activity is aimed at the stimulation for the initiative and personal creativity, the use of bibliographical documental sources, the organization of logical discourse and the searching and achievement of the concluding thesis.
  • Autonomous work and study (6 ECTS: 150 hours) (learning outcome results 1, 2, 3). From the activities indicated, the student must be responsible for the creation of schemes and work programs.

  • Topic 3: OT Depression
  • Topic 4: OT in the eating disorder
  • Topic 5: OT in Dual Pathology
  • Practice session 1: Application of theories of Occupational Therapy I
  • Practice session 2: Application of theories of Occupational Therapy II
  • Practice session 3: Evidence-based Occupational Therapy

Section II: Occupational Therapy in other areas

  • Topic 6: OT in situations of social risk
  • Topic 7: OT in burns
  • Topic 8: OT in cardiac pathology
  • Topic 9: OT in respiratory pathology
  • Topic 10: OT in cancer
  • Topic 11: OT in palliative care

4.4. Course planning and calendar

Schedule of on-site sessions and project presentation:

  • Lectures: 3h/week (Monday from 11.00 to 12.00, Tuesday and Thursday from 11.00 to 13.00)
  • Practice sessions: 2h / week /group (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.00 to 11.00)
  • First theory exam (partial): January
  • Second theory exam (partial): May
  • Deadline for the individual assignment:  February-May
  • Final exam of the whole course: June –September
